Laying down the floorThis Saturday was different from other ones we have had. The day started with shopping for materials. The first part of the team loaded up the trailer with our purchases and headed to Glentui. The second part of the team drove to Rangiora, bought the material for the foundations of the verandah and then headed in the same direction.

At last we arrived at Glentui, and finally had the chance to take saws and hammers into our hands. After several weeks of digging and concreting we enthusiastically started to build the floor of the meditation hut

The first step was to cut small slots into the pylons. It unexpectedly turned into a warming up exercise. Fortunately the weather was cool, thus we kept calm minds. Our professional builders were cutting and hammering the timbers. When the timbers were put in place they looked like a chessboard. By the end of the day we had finished this construction and put the chipboard on it. This will probably be covered by PVC or something similar in the future.

Something flat in GlentuiThe second part of the team prepared the place for the verandah and dug three holes. After lunch we put pylons into these holes. These will hold the deck.

This accomplished the dirty jobs around the hut. Now we move onto the interesting jobs such as cutting and measuring of timber, hammering nails, landscaping, etc. It will require many friends with good senses of humour.

We have also bought second hand french doors. We need to decide on the colour of the hut as soon as possible and paint the doors.

The Glentui project is an opportunity to try out something new and experience lots of fun in the magnificent environment.
